What works, what to weigh

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Ideally located in the center — A short walk from Rynok Square, the statue of Taras Shevchenko, and other main attractions, yet set back on a quieter street away from the crowds.
  • Friendly and helpful staff — Guests repeatedly mention the team going out of their way — offering towels and slippers, speaking English well, and assisting with arrangements.
  • Great value for money — With rates from £368 per night and high ratings for value and rooms, this hostel delivers solid comfort without a big price tag.
  • Good in-room amenities — Beds come with curtains, individual lights, power sockets, and lockers — details that make dorm stays more private and comfortable.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Limited check-in window — Check-in is only from 14:00 to 21:00, so if you arrive later you'll need to plan around the bell system for after-hours entry.
  • Staff language barrier at times — Some guests found that not all staff spoke much English, though they made an effort to communicate and were still helpful.
  • Small kitchen space — The shared kitchen is clean and functional but compact, which could be tight if many guests cook at once.
  • No pets allowed — If you're travelling with a pet, you'll need to look elsewhere, as the hostel has a strict no-pets policy.

“The location was perfect — just a minute from the airport trolley bus stop and a few minutes from the tram to the train station. An ATM next door and a good Ukrainian restaurant nearby were handy. Each bed had a socket and the WiFi was reliable. The kitchen was small but clean and sufficient. Staff, especially Ulyana and Luda, were very helpful. I'd definitely recommend it.”

The late-night bell system was convenient, and the beds came with individual lights and sockets. The coffee machine and fast WiFi were nice extras.”

“Mind-blowing location – super central and walkable to everything. The hostel stays open late and has a bell if the door is closed, so no lockout worries. Showers were amazing, and the washing machine saved me. Beds were comfy with a small light and socket, and the lockers fit my luggage perfectly. Staff were kind despite limited English and even gave me a towel and slippers. The coffee machine was perfect for early mornings.”
